Riverwalk RV Park/Jonesville/Elkin

For our anniversary we decided to camp at the popular Riverwalk RV Park on the Yadkin River. I heard rave reviews about this new rv park that was created by campers for campers.

Booking was easy to do online and they offer the option to site lock. We chose site 6 on Riverwalk Trail because it was close to the end of the first street so we didn't have many neighbors. Riverwalk offers full hookups, they have a cute store in their office and also a "Comfort Station" with bathrooms, showers and laundry. There are food trucks, cornhole, a beach, volleyball and fire pit area for everyone to enjoy. The sites are large and easily accommodated our rv. This was also the first weekend where we could open the windows without it being too hot. We enjoyed every minute of this trip.

Right beside the campground is the greenway where you can hike or bike along the path. We enjoyed walking, Buddy enjoyed being carried :)

There's plenty to do in the town of Elkin. We at lunch at Angry Troll Brewery and it was so yummy. We order a few different pizzas and had some pumpkin stouts. We had Buddy with us so we had to sit outside with him. The weather was perfect! We walked all over the downtown area visiting shops and making memories.

There are several places to hike in the area. We picked the Carter Falls Trail, it was a lot of fun but I wish I brought hiking shoes instead of running sneakers.

We visited the Elkin Creek Winery in the afternoon. Due to Covid restrictions, we weren't allowed inside. Instead they come to the door with a menu and ask what you're interested in trying. There was seating outside and around back they were setting up for a wedding.

It's not often that you see a wedding trellis in the woods at a vineyard, so we took some anniversary pics. Cheers to 16 years!!

We really enjoyed the campgrounds being right in town, but far enough away from any traffic. You are treated like family when you stay at Riverwalk. The owners are wonderful people who truly make you feel comfortable. If you're not on a Facebook camping group, you need to be. This is where we get most of the recommendations of where to stay and Riverwalk is high on everyone's list to visit and re-visit. They also have a Facebook group called Riverwalk Enthusiasts that was created by fans of RW.

Disclaimer: I realize there are mixed opinions on site locking, especially for an extra fee. For us, it's convenient to know exactly what site we're in because we have a large 43ft rv. Sometimes campgrounds don't understand what it takes to back into spots easily with the length of a long rig unless they are campers themselves. I feel better knowing that we paid a little extra to reserve a site that we chose ourselves. They say two things challenge a marriage, kids and helping your husband park the rv...this is so true!!
